Jake S hits and pitches Hitmen to 7-4 victory

Jake S powered Hitmen at the plate and on the rubber Saturday, willing Hitmen to a 7-4 victory over Freeport Stix.
Jake S was solid at the plate for Hitmen. Jake S went 2-3, drove in one and scored one run. He singled in the first inning and doubled in the fourth inning.
Jake S put together a nice outing. Freeport Stix managed just one hit off of S, who allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out three during his 2 1/3 innings of work.
Hitmen scored four runs in the first inning to build an early lead. Hitmen scored in the first on a wild pitch, an RBI single by Jake S, an error, and an RBI single by David K.
After pushing across one run in the top of the second, Freeport Stix faced just a 4-1 deficit. An error triggered Freeport Stix’s comeback. Hitmen stopped the rally after Preston S got #20 to strike out.
It didn’t take long for Hitmen to respond as it scored two runs of its own in the second. Hitmen scored on a two-run single by Nikko E.
After pushing across two runs in the top of the third, Freeport Stix faced just a 6-3 deficit. A wild pitch and a solo home run by #11 sparked Freeport Stix’s rally. The Freeport Stix threat came to an end when Jake S finally got #5 to ground out.
After pushing across one run in the top of the sixth, Freeport Stix faced just a 7-4 deficit. An RBI single by #2 gave Freeport Stix life. Jeremy J ended the game by getting #20 to strike out.
