Hitmen can't capture shootout, loses 17-10 to Fishers Express (Targgart)
Hitmen fell 17-10 to Fishers Express in five innings on Saturday despite racking up eight hits and 10 runs.
Jake Russell went a perfect 2-2 at the plate for Hitmen. He singled in the first and third innings.
Fishers Express easily handled Hitmen pitching as six hitters combined for 11 hits, 14 RBIs and 11 runs scored.
The top of the first saw Hitmen take an early lead, 3-0. Hitmen’s threat began with a single by Jake R. More runs came home for Hitmen when E scored on a sacrifice fly by Jeremy Jaehnig and R scored.
Fishers Express stayed on top until the final out after taking the lead in the second, scoring seven runs on an RBI double by #2, four singles, and a two-run triple by #13.
Fishers Express piled on six more runs in the bottom of the third. #24 doubled, bringing home #9, #3 and #20 to start the inning. That was followed up by #13’s triple, scoring #24 and #10.
A six-run fourth inning helped bring Hitmen within four. A passed ball, a two-run single by Trevor Knoll, an RBI single by David Kimpel, an RBI triple by Jake Simpson, and an error set off Hitmen rally. Trent Hanson struck out to end the Hitmen threat.
Fishers Express increased its lead with three runs in the fourth. #20’s single got things going, bringing home #3. That was followed up by #5’s triple, plating #20.
